Walther P22 Review – Handgun Comparison

The Walther P22 handgun is the 3/4 rimfire version of the Walther P99 center-fire pistol. The P22 pistol is smaller, however, and has both an external hammer and a polymer frame. The magazine release is also different, located at the bottom rear of the trigger guard for both left-handed and right-handed shooters.

As a handgun reviewer at the NRA American Rifleman explains in a Walther P22 review, the sights on this handgun are strong but challenging to adjust. Plinkers with thicker thumbs may have a hard time accessing the magazine release, and cheap bulk ammunition is not recommended for a day at the shooting range.

Overall, gun buyers on a budget may want to take a look at the Walther P22 for its affordable price, which usually ranges from $300 to $400.
