Pituitary Gland

Post-Military Brain Injuries

A recent study by doctors at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System indicates that nearly half of veterans with traumatic brain injuries (TBI) have low hormone levels, a condition known as hypopituitarism.

This problem with the body’s pituitary gland resembles post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression, two problems that afflict too many veterans.

Although some military doctors may misdiagnose hypopituitarism, this medical condition can be controlled by supplementing the body’s hormones.

“This could be a largely missed opportunity for successful treatment,”

explains  Dr. Charles Wilkinson, one of the study’s five authors.

Most commonly,  human growth hormone (HGH) had the lowest levels, a condition that can cause cognitive and behavorial problems that resemble PTSD and depression in post-military patients.

Its such as you read my thoughts! You appear to understand
so much about this, such as you wrote the guide in it or something.
I feel that you could do with a few percent to pressure the message home a little bit,
but other than that, this is magnificent blog. A fantastic read.
    I’ll certainly be back.
