C-141 Starlifter Cargo Aircraft

The C-141 cargo aircraft was the world’s first turbofan-powered air transport. During and after the Cold War, the C-141 participated in every U.S. military mission from Vietnam to Operation Iraq Freedom. Today, this powerful fleet of military airplanes is now retired.

Built by Lockheed-Martin, the C-141 Starlifter was the first production aircraft designed completely by the company’s engineers in Marietta, Georgia. As both a cargo aircraft and personnel transport, the C-141 Starlifter supplied U.S. forces in Vietnam.

Versions of the C-141 Starlifter were also used to carry paratroopers, aeromedical personnel, and injured and wounded soldiers. From support for the Apollo program to Antarctic resupply missions, this U.S. Air Force (USAF) cargo aircraft was there.
