C-17 Cargo Aircraft

The C-17 cargo aircraft is a T-tailed, 4-engine military transport built by Boeing.  The C-17 Globemaster III is used by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) for military missions as well as humanitarian and peacekeeping operations.

An impressive cargo aircraft, the C-17 can carry a payload of 160,000 lbs. after taking off from a 7,600 ft. airfield. The Globemaster III can then fly 2,400 nautical miles and refuel in flight if necessary.

Typically, the C-17 carries wheeled U.S. Army vehicles such as the M-1 tank in two side-by-side rows. Bradley infantry-fighting vehicles can also be transported anywhere in the world, even to dirt runways.

As a personnel carrier, the C-17 cargo aircraft seats 54 airmen on the sidewall and 48 warriors in the centerline.
